Fertilizer granulation production line: the core manufacturing strength of diversified granular products

Home » Blog Write:GOFINE 2025-08-18

The fertiliser granulation production line constitutes a critical cluster of equipment for transforming powdered raw materials into granular fertiliser. Through flexible process configurations, it produces granular products of diverse shapes and specifications, meeting the varied demands of global agriculture, horticulture, and environmental sectors.

Spherical granules represent the classic output of granulation lines, typically ranging from 2 to 6 millimetres in diameter. Through the centrifugal force generated by disc or drum granulators, raw materials naturally form into spheres during rolling, resulting in highly uniform, moderately robust particles. These pellets exhibit excellent flowability, making them suitable for simultaneous application with seeds during mechanised sowing. They are widely used in field crops such as maize and wheat. Their slow-release properties minimise nutrient leaching, rendering them particularly popular in rice-growing regions of Southeast Asia.

Cylindrical pellets are produced by extrusion granulators, featuring circular or polygonal cross-sections with lengths ranging from 3-10mm. As no binders are required during granulation, raw material activity is maximally preserved, making them particularly suitable for organic fertilisers and bio-fertilisers. Columnar pellets possess high hardness and resistance to breakage, with transport loss rates below 3%. This makes them favoured by South American clients requiring long-distance maritime shipping, and they are commonly used as base fertilisers in orchards and tea plantations.

Controlled-release coated pellets represent the pinnacle of high-end granulation production lines. Base pellets undergo fluidised bed coating to form a biodegradable resin or sulphur film on their surface, regulating nutrient release rates according to soil temperature and humidity. These pellets maintain efficacy for 3-6 months, with individual weight tolerances controlled within ±5%. They perfectly align with Europe’s precision greenhouse cultivation systems, serving as the preferred fertiliser form for modern agriculture in countries like the Netherlands and Belgium.

Additionally, the production line can customise trace element compound pellets, achieving precise ratios of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and sulphur through layered granulation technology. It also produces water-soluble pellets, engineered via specialised granulation processes to ensure rapid dissolution in water, meeting the fertilisation requirements of drip irrigation systems.

From basic granules to functional products, our granulation lines employ modular design to flexibly adapt particle types according to raw material characteristics and market demands, empowering global partners to expand diversified fertiliser product lines.
