Fermentation + Granulation for an Organic Fertilizer Production Line for a Brazilian Customer

Release time:August 12, 2025

Recently, the organic fertilizer production line customized by our factory for an agricultural cooperative in São Paulo State, Brazil, celebrated its first anniversary. This “fermentation + granulation” equipment, which uses poultry manure as its core raw material, has been operating stably for a year, transforming livestock waste into high-quality organic fertilizer and becoming a benchmark project for green agricultural development in the region.

Targeted at the characteristics of poultry manure in Brazil’s tropical climate (moisture content of 65%-70% and high nitrogen content), the production line utilizes a combined “trough-type turning fermentation” and disc granulation process. During the fermentation stage, an intelligent temperature control system maintains the material at 55-60°C. Combined with frequent turning (every two hours), this process achieves rapid composting within seven days, three times more efficient than traditional local composting. Special anti-stick discs are used in the granulation stage to reduce the fermented material (moisture content to 30%) into 3-5mm pellets, achieving a stable granulation rate of over 92%, addressing the stickiness and clumping of poultry manure. The year’s operating results are impressive: a total of 12,000 tons of poultry manure was processed, producing 8,000 tons of granular organic fertilizer. The equipment operated trouble-free for 340 days throughout the year, and the granulator die wear was only 0.3mm, far below the industry average of 0.8mm. Energy consumption was significantly improved, with an overall energy consumption of 32 kWh per ton of finished product, a 15% reduction over customer expectations. After three-stage purification, the exhaust gas concentration was kept below 10 ppm, fully meeting the strict standards of the Brazilian Environmental Protection Agency.

“This production line has transformed our livestock waste into valuable resources,” said Rodriguez, head of the cooperative, during the annual review. The farm had long been plagued by foul odors and pollution caused by accumulated poultry manure. Now, the organic fertilizer produced not only supplies the cooperative’s 500-hectare coffee plantation but is also certified organic and sold in supermarkets in São Paulo. It sells for 180 reais per ton, generating over 1.2 million reais in annual revenue and shortening the payback period by six months compared to the planned figure. Localized adaptation ensures efficient operation: To address Brazil’s high humidity, the fermentation tanks were equipped with rainproof canopies and forced ventilation systems. The control system supports Portuguese operation and features a built-in IoT module, allowing our engineers to complete 11 parameter optimizations through remote monitoring with a response time of less than 6 hours. Key spare parts are stored in a bonded warehouse in Rio de Janeiro, shortening the replacement cycle to 48 hours.

This anniversary achievement demonstrates the proven capabilities of Chinese organic fertilizer equipment in tropical aquaculture waste treatment. We will continue to deepen our presence in the South American market, using customized technologies to help more customers transform waste into treasure and promote the development of a circular economy in agriculture.
